This character is one of my favorites in the world of video games. His adventures, characters and joking nature have made me smile from time to time, but although it may sound cruel, it is very likely that I no longer want to know anything about him. Because? Well, because of a Sonic 2 disk, my favorite game about the character. Today I am going to tell you one of the most terrifying experiences I have suffered in my life to warn you not to have the same thing happen to you.

It all started the previous Saturday, my parents went shopping at Wal-Mart, my brother went out with some friends, so I had the whole house to myself, suddenly I heard something fall on the dining room floor and I went to see . It was some bag in front of the mailbox on the door, normally when these kinds of things arrive it is when I ask my parents, but this time I had not asked for anything. From the shape it looked I deduced that it was a computer disk, it had a small piece of paper attached to it that said: “dear friend, you probably don't know anything about me, but I do. I've heard a lot that you liked Sonic the hedgehog, so as a gift I'm giving you a Sonic 2 album, I hope you like it, sincerely, Da#FA>sdf#an.

Even though the name had seemed very strange to me, I was happy because someone, who I think was a friend of one of my classmates, had given me a gift and I quickly took the package to the computer.

When I opened the package I was a little confused, the disk seemed to be somewhat scratched and the box looked old, I still decided to try it to see if it worked. And indeed, when I put the disc in, the iconic Sega logo and the title screen of Sonic 2 already appeared, which reminded me of those times when I played this title. But I quickly noticed something strange, in the bottom right corner, where it normally said 1992 Sega, it said 2012 Sega. That confused me a little, but I continued with the game to enjoy the night.

Afterwards everything remained normal, I was passing the Emerald Hill levels defeating badniks, however, when I arrived at the Chemical plant everything changed. When I finished completing level 1 of said area, the screen went black for a while. Then it went back to normal and I appeared in act 2, but something wasn't right; The music was completely muted, the chimico in the area went from being blue to pure red and, what scared me the most, was that from time to time a laugh with a very thick voice could be heard. At that moment I saw that it was 8 pm, so I decided to pause and rest a little, I went to the kitchen to eat a piece of pizza left over from last night and watch a movie.

That night I woke up to a very loud knock coming from my room. I thought it was my parents who came back from the supermarket, but when I went I found a mysterious figure staring at the computer screen. Because of his height, I thought he was a boy my own age, so I approached him and asked him: “Who are you?” Just when he was going to turn around, I got up again, I had fallen asleep.

I decided to wash the plate I used to eat and went to my room to finish Sonic 2. When I got to Aquatic Ruin, at the end of the level something happened. Instead of finishing the act and continuing with the second, I appeared in a cave-type place where there were red spots and a message appeared that said “RUN”. This is where I started to get scared, I listened to the message, but then I thought about this, run, but... Run from what?? And at that moment I saw it.

I hadn't played all the Sonic games but I'm highly certain that this character doesn't exist, he was a Sonic, but this one was all black with red pupils and a white mouth. My hair was standing on end and I ran as fast as possible so that Sonic, or whatever was in the game, wouldn't catch me. Luckily I escaped, but again the screen went negative, only this time two red dots appeared, I was convinced they were from that black Sonic and a message quickly appeared: “Hello.”

At that time, I appeared in mystic cave, everything was wrong; The badniks were bloodied, the area had the music backwards and everything was in a red tone. When I defeated the Act 2 boss, the screen paused for a few seconds and a text appeared. It said: “Hello friend, my name is Da#FA>sdf#an, but actually in Darkness, I've been here for a long time and I'm looking for someone new to play with, DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME?” The name sounded familiar to me, it was the person who had given me the game, he was definitely not from my city.

I didn't know what to do, the screen didn't change, until I remembered the question he asked me, I said yes and appeared in the Death Egg. Instead of meeting the robot copy of Sonic, there was that “Darkness” guy; As soon as I got close to him, he started running like crazy. I figured he was challenging me to a race, so I humored him. Unfortunately, I lost the race and a text in red told me: “It seems you couldn't keep up with me, you deserve a lesson” and at that moment something happened that I will never forget. In addition to hitting the Sonic that I controlled, I felt a terrible pain in my stomach, I didn't understand why, did the being want to get me into the game? Do you want me to be locked up like him? With those doubts I continued with the game.

I appeared in a giant room that I didn't seem to have, the being appeared and began to chase me, with my heart on the verge of death, I began to run, at one point it stopped, perhaps it would let me go? At that moment a new red text appeared: “Okay, that's it. You are free from me, I will leave you free from this, that is, if you play this album again, there is no escape”, and with those last words the screen turned off. Without thinking, I took out the disc immediately, went to the bathroom to calm down and went to sleep. I still have the Sonic 2 disk secretly kept so my parents don't see it, I've thought about breaking it or burning it, but I'm afraid the being will enter our world.

Este personaje es uno de mis de favoritos del mundo de los videojuegos. Sus aventuras, personajes y carácter bromista me ha sacado de vez en cuando una sonrisa, pero aunque suene cruel, es muy probable que ya no quiera saber nada de él. Por qué? Pues por culpa de un disco de Sonic 2, Mi juego favorito del personaje. Hoy voy a contarles una de las experiencias más terroríficas que he sufrido en mi vida para advertirles que no les pase lo mismo.

Todo comenzó el sábado anterior, mis padres se fueron de compras al Wal-Mart, mi hermano se fue a salir con unos amigos, así que tenía toda la casa para mí, de pronto escucho algo que cayó al piso del comedor y fui a ver. Se trataba de alguna bolsa enfrente del buzón de la puerta, normalmente cuando llegan este tipo de cosas son cuando les pido a mis padres, pero esta vez no había pedido nada. Por la forma que se veía deduje que era un disco para computadora, tenía un pequeño papel pegado que decía: “querido amigo, probablemente no sepas nada de mí, pero yo sí. A pesar de que el nombre me había parecido muy raro, me puse alegre ya que alguien, que pienso que es amigo de alguno de mis compañeros de clase, me había dado un obsequio y rápidamente lleve el paquete a la compu.

Al abrir el paquete me quede algo confundido, el disco parecía estar algo rasguñado y la caja se veía vieja, aun así decidí probarlo a ver si funcionaba. Y efectivamente, cuando puse el disco ya aparecía el icónico logo de Sega y la pantalla de título de Sonic 2, lo cual me hizo recordar a esas épocas que jugaba a este título. Pero rápidamente me di cuenta de algo raro, abajo a la derecha de la esquina, donde normalmente ponía 1992 Sega, ponía 2012 Sega. Eso me confundió un poco, pero seguí con el juego para disfrutar la noche.

Después todo siguió normal, Estaba pasando los niveles de Emerald hill derrotando badniks, sin embargo, cuando llegue a Chemical plant todo cambio. Luego volvió a la normalidad y aparecí en el acto 2, pero algo no andaba bien; la música estaba totalmente muteada, el chimico de la zona paso de ser azul a rojo puro y, lo que más me asusto, era que de vez en cuando se escuchaba una risa con una voz muy gruesa. En ese momento vi que eran las8 de la noche, por lo cual decidí poner pausa y descansar un poco, fui a la cocina a comer un trozo de pizza que quedo de la noche pasada y mirar una peli.

Esa noche me levanto un golpe muy fuerte que venía de mi habitación, pensé que eran mis padres que volvieron del supermercado, pero cuando fui me encontré con una misteriosa figura que miraba fijamente a la pantalla de la computadora. Por su altura pensé que era un chico de mi misma edad así que me acerque y le pregunte: “¿Quién eres?”. Justo cuando se iba dar la vuelta, me levante devuelta, me había quedado dormido.

Decidí lavar el plato que utilice para comer y me fui a mi cuarto a terminar el Sonic 2. Cuando llegue a Aquatic ruin, al final del nivel paso algo. En vez de terminar el acto y seguir con el segundo, aparecí en un lugar tipo cueva donde en el donde habían manchas de color rojo y un mensaje apareció que ponía “CORRE”. Aquí es donde me empecé a asustar, le hice caso al mensaje, pero luego pensé en este, corre, pero… Correr de qué?? Y en ese momento lo vi.

No había jugado todos los juegos de Sonic pero estoy altamente seguro de que este personaje no existe, era un Sonic, pero este era todo negro con pupilas rojas y boca blanca. Se me habían puesto los pelos de punta y corrí lo más rápido posible para que ese Sonic, o lo que fuera que este en el juego, no me atrapara. Por suerte escape, pero nuevamente la pantalla se puso de negó, solo que esta vez aparecieron dos puntos rojos, estaba convencido que eran de ese Sonic negro y rápidamente apareció un mensaje: “Hola”.

En ese momento, aparecí en mistic cave, todo estaba mal; los badniks estaba ensangrentados, la zona tenia la música al revés y todo en un tono rojo. Cuando derrote al jefe del acto 2, la pantalla se puse en pausa por unos segundos y apareció un texto. Decía: “Hola amigo, mi nombre es Da#FA>sdf#an, pero en realidad en Darkness, llevo mucho tiempo aquí y estoy buscando a alguien nuevo para que jugar, QUIERES PASARLO BIEN?”. El nombre me sonaba, era la persona que me había regalado el juego, definitivamente no era de mi ciudad.

No sabía que hacer, la pantalla no cambiaba, hasta que recordé la pregunta que me hizo, dije que si y aparecí en el Death Egg. En vez de encontrarme con la copia robot de Sonic, estaba ese tal “Darkness”; en cuanto me acerque a él, empezó a correr como loco. Deduje que me estaba desafiando a una carrera, así que le seguí la corriente. Desafortunadamente perdi la carreray un texto en rojo me dijo: “Parece que no pudiste seguirme el ritmo, te mereces una lección” y en ese momento paso algo que jamás me olvidare. Además de golpear al Sonic que yo controlaba, sentí un terrible dolor en el estómago, no entendía por qué, Acaso El ser quería meterme en el juego? Quiere que este encerrado al igual que él? Con esas dudas seguí con el juego.

Aparecí en un cuarto gigante que parecía no tener, el ser apareció y empezó a perseguirme, yo con el corazón al borde de la muerte, empecé a correr en un momento se detuvo, quizás ya me dejara ir?. En ese momento un nuevo texto en rojo apareció: “Bueno ya esta. Eres libre de mi , te dejare libre de esto, eso si, si vuelves a jugar este disco, no hay escapatoria”, y con esas últimas palabras la pantalla se apago. Sin pensarlo, saque el disco de inmediato, fui al baño para tranquilizarme y me fui a dormir. Todavía tengo el disco de Sonic 2 guardado secreta mente para que mis padres no lo vean, he pensado en romperlo o quemado, pero tengo miedo de que el ser entre a nuestro mundo.
